چکیده

Objective: To determine whether MCP-1 (monocyte chemoattractant protein 1) levels in human atherosclerotic plaques associate with plaque vulnerability features. Approach and Results: We measured samples from 1199 patients the Athero-EXPRESS Biobank who underwent endarterectomy for treatment of carotid stenosis. explored associations histopathologic molecular features vulnerability, clinical manifestations, vascular events up to 3 years after endarterectomy. Following adjustments age, sex, risk factors, were associated markers (large lipid core, low collagen content, high macrophage burden, smooth muscle cell intraplaque hemorrhage) a composite index (range 0–5, ? per SD increment MCP-1, 0.42 [95% CI, 0.30–0.53], P =5.4×10 ?13 ). further found significant higher other chemokines proinflammatory molecules neovascularization matrix turnover. When exploring instability, among individuals symptomatic as compared those asymptomatic (odds ratio 1.36 1.09–1.69]). periprocedural major adverse strokes occurring first 30 days removal. Conclusions: Higher are histopathologic, molecular, hallmarks undergoing Our findings highlight role instability humans complement previous epidemiological, genetic, experimental studies supporting translational perspective targeting signaling atherosclerosis.

Serum Levels of Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 Correlate with Poor Clinical Grades in Cerebral Aneurysms

Background : Ruptured cerebral aneurysms (ICAs) are the most common non-traumatic cause of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) that is associated with life threatening complications such as Vasospasm, Infarction, and Hydrocephalus (HCP). The active participation of macrophage/monocyte-mediated inflammatory response in the pathogenesis of cerebral aneurysm as labeled with Monocyte ChemoattractantProte...

Expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 in macrophage-rich areas of human and rabbit atherosclerotic lesions.

The recruitment of monocyte-macrophages into the artery wall is one of the earliest events in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1) is a potent monocyte chemoattractant secreted by many cells in vitro, including vascular smooth muscle and endothelial cells. To test whether it is expressed in the artery in vivo, we used Northern blot analysis, in situ hy...

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor and Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 Levels Unaltered in Symptomatic Atherosclerotic Carotid Plaque Patients from North India

We aimed to identify the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP-1) as a serum biomarker of symptomatic carotid atherosclerotic plaque in North Indian population. Individuals with symptomatic carotid atherosclerotic plaque have high risk of ischemic stroke. Previous studies from western countries have shown an association between VEGF and MCP-...

Detection of Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 Receptor Expression in Experimental Atherosclerotic Lesions

Background—Monocytes, a common component of atheroma, are attracted to the lesion site in response to chemotactic signals, particularly expression of monocyte chemoattractant peptide 1 (MCP-1). This study assessed the feasibility of using radiolabeled MCP-1 to identify monocytes and macrophages that have localized at sites of experimental arterial lesions. Methods and Results—The biodistributio...
